Here is a ten minute practice that helps to build strength toward a full plank. Whether you’re a beginner with no yoga experience, or a long time practitioner, this practice will help to build strength in the shoulders, upper back, and core.
But I will say what every yoga instructor would say if you are wobbling out of balance in a pose; focus on your core. Breath into any areas of tension. Some discomfort can be ok, but don’t try to force something lest you hurt yourself. Give yourself grace for being where you are. Find your center, and be strong in it.
One of my wonderful clients asked if we could make a video of some of the shoulder work we had done together. She wanted this so that she could share with a group of swimmers she is helping to coach. I happily agreed!

How strange it is to watch the storm in our mind. Some days we may have light cloudiness, mostly sun, some days it’s like watching that inevitable dark cloud grow closer by the minute. The storm clouds of our mind can be much more challenging to deal with then the storm clouds in the sky.
This is one of my favorite easy breakfasts. I can make a batch and eat it for days. It has a slight sweetness with a hearty texture, and the warming spices feel comforting to me.
It's a new year!! It's an easy time to set new goals, evaluate where we are at, what we want in our future, and maybe, decide what we want to change. New year's resolutions here we come. It seems that a lot of people make the resolution to be "healthier" in the new year. This resolution often include some kind of diet, and some sort of exercise.
