Portugal Yoga Retreat Packing Tips and Tricks
I’m getting so excited about our trip!! Below is a list of items that I find helpful for International travel, and for travel yoga retreats in general. Please reach out if you have questions about any of this!
Travel /Jet lag :
Vitamins: I love these vitamin patches. Sometimes taking vitamins can be a real chore, or even make me have nausea. These solve both of those problems along with packing very small and light!! For traveling specifically I use the zinc patches and the energy/B12 patches. These help with immunity and jet lag. I cannot recommend these more!! They are a travel priority for me.

Electrolytes: Everyone has their personal preference of electrolyte drinks they prefer. Find a powder in individual packs you can add to your water. If you have one you like, use it! This is also a nonnegotiable for my travel jet lag prevention.
I am not a fan of the sweet electrolytes Promix makes a salty grapefruit one that I love. It is not everyone's cup of tea, but they are my favorite! If you like sweeter, they also have a lemon lime one that is on the sweeter side. I also love that these are very clean and free from dyes, fake sweeteners or too much sugar. ( I also love their protein puff bars as a travel snack. My favorite flavors are the Strawberry and snickerdoodle.)

Compression Socks: These uncomfortable and not so stylish little beauties will make your legs MUCH happier during and after long flights. JUST DO IT. There are lots of good options, but I will add a link below for your convenience.
Travel Yoga:
Yoga Mat: You will need a yoga mat for this trip. Having a good travel mat is much easier to pack. If you have room to bring a real full mat, do it! They are much more comfortable. That being said, if you are trying to pack light, a regular mat is hard to fit in. Below is the travel mat I will be packing.
Turkish Towel/Sand Cloud Towel: I LOVE these for travel. They are beautiful, can be used as a scarf for blanket on the plane, a towel on the beach, and a blanket for you yoga class. Also, with a travel mat, the extra padding is REAL NICE! We can also use these as a makeshift strap in class. I really recommend having something like a turkish towel. If you have a scarf or something else you prefer that fits this, feel free.

General Travel:
Bug spray: I find anytime I travel to a new place, the Miskitos in the area find me very exciting. I’m not the only one. There have been many times I am not the only one they like. Bring some type of bug repellent. There are all kinds out there. Some natural, some not. When it comes to bugs, who they like and what works to repel them, it is very individual. My hope is you have something you like and can bring. Below I will link a good travel wipe option, and my favorite natural option.

Natural option (have never used it): https://amzn.to/49pHjNf
My Favorite, I put it in my own travel bottles: https://www.melaleuca.com/productstore/medicines-and-treatments/natural-insect-repellent
Travel Shoes: Shoes are so personal I almost didn’t even put this here, but, I don’t love when I get somewhere and feel unprepared. We will be doing some hiking and water sports. I think having a good water shoe is really nice, as well as having a hiking shoe that you feel you can use for other things as well.
A good tennis shoe can work for hiking, or tevas. Whatever you like. We are not going to be doing a hard hike, but, be prepared to walk a bit, not on paved roads. ( Also, you can sit out any day that has an activity that does not interest you. I am not providing a link here because it is so personal. I am happy to give you suggestions if you reach out.
Water shoes are interesting. I have found some good, very affordable options on amazon. They work great for traction in water, on boats, and are light and easy to clean. ( I have even hiked in them, but i like the barefoot style option for my hiking shoes.) : https://amzn.to/3HQQbQw
I’m sure there is more I am not thinking of in this moment. If something comes up, or someone asks about anything I will edit the page and add the info!
Can’t wait!!!
